Industrial Roofs

Factories, Warehouses, Logistics Centers, Retail Shopping Centers, Sports Facilities, Show Centers, Showrooms, etc various constructions have industrial metal roof systems. Although it is possible to use sandwich panels or metal panels for these roof applications, due to the continuous movement of the metal sheets, customers face difficulties to have a watertight roof application by time. These movements may form gaps between the overlapping or fixings of the metal sheets as they are not flexible in their structural form. For this reason, in the recent years these applications are replaced by flexible synthetic geomembrane finish layers.

With their extremely high aging resistance properties and with their service lives even more than the economic lives of the constructions, OC-Plan® ECB Geomembrane and Polyfin® FPO Geomembrane systems have proven their performance world wide for both new build and renovated industrial roof applications.

Industrial Roof Waterproofing

Before starting the waterproofing works, it is important to check that the drainage and gully system is placed in the right areas and are working properly

The elongation property and the flexibility of the geomembrane are very important criteria for industrial roof applications due to the severe movements on the roof and the continuous working of metal elements. Glass fleece is a very flexible reinforcement which can show high elongation properties when subject to load. This way it does not have a negative effect of the tensile strength and elongation properties of the Geomembrane, fully adopts and elongates together with the material homogeneously. The reinforcement used in the production of OC-Plan® ECB and Polyfin® FPO Geomembranes is glass fleece .

ECB and FPO Geomembranes are applied in single layers by mechanically fastening and seam welding system in industrial roof waterproofing applications. Following the application of the vapor barrier and heat insulation panels, OC-Plan® ECB or Polyfin® FPO Geomembrane roll is loosely laid on the surface. Leaving a safety distance of 1 cm from each sides, the roll is than mechanically fastened roughly at every 20 cm (the actual distance is calculated by a computer program by our technical department) to the trapezoidal metal sheet (including the heat insulation panel and the vapor barrier below the geomembrane) using special screws and roundels. The second roll is than overlapped to the mechanically fastened roll covering the mechanical fastener plus a minimum of 5 cm welding distance. The application continues with the welding of the seam using automatic hot welding machines.

The perimeter fixing of the industrial roof waterproofing must be done on the parapets with a minimum of 10 cm above the finish layer of the roof application. The perimeter fixings are applied using aluminum profiles, special screws, PU or similar sealants.

NOTE : OC-Plan® ECB and Polyfin® FPO Geomembrane system have special ECB and FPO accessories. These are internal and external corners, roof ventilators, roof outlets, water outlets, emergency water outlets, sealing sleeves, cable feeds, ECB and FPO laminated metal sheets, etc. and are applied using hand welding machines to the geomembranes.
